This is the first time I have ever had bees and I decided to make a video documenting the nuc install. Visit myerstownfarm.com to read about our farming, music, and other adventures.

  1. I dont know if you’re still watching this. But Ive researching all the footage I can find here on you tube. Ive got new bees coming in a week! Love your video. Your technique is so nice and relaxed hope I can learn from it when the time comes! Sorry to hear about the loss, hope you’re trying again. Great fiddle playing by the way. I build Dobros for Beard guitars out in Hagerstown, MD.

  2. We have a hive in our garden not far from the patio. Never had any trouble at all. The cats love to sit on top of the hive, especially in winter, probably because of the heat they produce.

Well, Not good. I got hit with that new Nosema (they are also calling CCD) and it killed all my bees by late winter. The first hive died quick the second held on most of the winter then died. I have 7 swarm traps out and I am buying another nuc in a couple days.

  4. How are your bees doing?

  5. Thanks for the advice! :)

Actually if you dont have a covenant signed saying that then all you need to do is talk to your neighbors. Most of the time they will be fine with it as long as they get a little honey in return. You can put them bees any where. I have heard of them being put on a 5 story building in New York.

  7. Super! We’ll BEE a honey customer!

  8. You’re lucky!
I wanted to install a beehive in my garden, but my brother-in-low who has worked as beekeeper, told me I couldn’t because of the neighborhood (I live surrounded by another houses and my garden is not that big. :(
    I love honey! :)
